Ask Liz Ryan HR: Human Resources for the new millennium

Upon analysis, there may seem to be a common theme to much of what I post, more so if one had ever perused my poetry...I believe resolutely in the refusal to yeild, the refusal to submit, the refusal to compromise ideals, beliefs or ethics..in short I beleive in stoicism, honor and steadfastness in the face of adversity or the temptation to conform to convenience of status quo, one must follow ones own conscience as best they can and make decisions of the world and their place in it for themselves, without parrotting what another believes they should embrace. We all fall from grace on occassion, we are after all human and therefore frail in our resolution. But he who resigns and submits to cynicism and compromise is he who has lost. Enough of my babble...Dylan Thomas said it much better than I.

Do not go gentle into that good night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas
