Thank you Annemarie, I've found it a sometimes lonely path to travel...but well worth the tribulations. Sustainment of the core of your beliefs in the face of doubt, adversity and the "culture of compromise" we now live in is difficult as you say...…

Shane, How wonderful to find that this attitude is still alive. I have found that if I follow this simple, yet many times difficult, way of life I have peace within my own life. This world would be a better place if these words were posted everywher…

About Me:
I suppose you could describe me as a "cynical idealist". I believe that people could be fundamentally decent and do the right things, they simply choose not to. I'm fiercely devoted to whatever or whomever I commit to, whether it be a job, an ideal, or a person. I'm pretty uncompromising for myself as far as how I treat others and devotion to what I lend my loyalties too, which is why I'm pretty particular about who or what that is. I am however enough of a realist not to necessarily expect that same in return...but one can always hope. I believe that it's what you do, and how you act, and how you treat someone that truly demonstrates your nobility. Words are cheap...deeds, actions (or the avoidance of some deeds and actions) are the true measure of one's worth. Enough babble, according to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator this is me (and oh added joy, the fictional character I have in common with this type...Hanibal Lecter!?) http://www.personalitypage.com/INTJ.html

Anyone Else Find this Troubling?

OK so I got this on an HR email newsgroup I subscribe to and it just really disturbs the heck outta me. Working in the occupation we do, we know exactly to what extremes human behavior can manifest itself in at the workplace.....I just have to say about this...BAD IDEA!

The Quintessential Paradigm

Upon analysis, there may seem to be a common theme to much of what I post, more so if one had ever perused my poetry...I believe resolutely in the refusal to yeild, the refusal to submit, the refusal to compromise ideals, beliefs or ethics..in short I beleive in stoicism, honor and steadfastness in the face of adversity or the temptation to conform to convenience of status quo, one must follow ones own conscience as best they can and make decisions of the world and their place in it for themselv… Continue

Today

So what can I say about today. I saved someone today and that restored my faith in what I do. Sometimes it's so hard to do what I do, to not let the cynicism overtake me, to not succumb to the temptation not to truly care anymore and just "do the job". I've been doing this for over 23 years now and I've seen, investigated and taken action on the worst of the worst....from the everyday "they said something mean to me" to the most abhorent acts possible, workplac… Continue

The Test of Character

The true test of character is simple:

Doing what is right simply because it's right - not because it "makes you feel good"...even if it causes you pain, even if it costs you dearly, even if other's think you're crazy for doing it...but simply because it's the right thing.

Honoring commitments - even if there is no earthly reason you should and even if other's release you from that commitment...it doesn't matter that other's wouldn't blame you in the least for not living up to them...you made t… Continue
